The Greatest Upset in History (that may be a stretch)

Last Monday I was recruited into the Second Annual Blogging All-Star Challenge.

Our team (Team Ricky) was a ragtag, hodge podge of scrappy bloggers that was assembled as a type of sacrificial speed bump to the team of blogging royalty (Team Rob) we were assigned to face.

If you’re bored out of your mind with nothing to do, you can check out the blogs and bios of all the blogging combatants at the site of Rob Shepard who conceptualized the blogging showdown. [EdiTOR's Note: Thanks Rob!]

When it was all said and done – Team Ricky (the team I was on) won:

  • Of the 1,310 votes cast Team Ricky received 715 (55%) while Team Rob secured 595 (45%).

The readers of The Daily ReTORt assisted in the win – and I’m grateful for that.

Now I have some swagger and in-your-face bragging rights next time I see some of those hoity toity Team Robians.

I’d like to share the spoils of victory with each of you who voted – but the spoils are non-existent. Perhaps next year the losers should endure some humiliating deed to make the challenge a bit more interesting.

Oh well, at least we can all say that at least one election this year broke our way – because I don’t think I’ll like either outcome of Obama vs. Romney.

Question: What should the losers of next year’s blogging challenge have to do?

  2. I didn’t realize I was blogging royalty. I kind of like it.
Really, we’re all winners. We got to have fun and trash talk and meet other bloggers. Next year will be even better.

  3. losers should have to quit blogging, they’re obviously not doing it right. its the blogging hunger games, only one blogger can survive next year! don’t worry, i’ll work on the revolution before your blog gets killed.

  4. Mullenann4 says:

Congratulations, Tor. First you get a baby and then you get an award. What more could you ask? As for the losers? Maybe they should have to write a paper on humility. I don’t know.

  5. The losers would have to listen to Lady Gaga for….never mind it’s just a blog competition, that would be a little harsh.

  6. The Good Greatsby says:

Win or lose I was just happy to be called an All-Star in any context.

  7. What’s the point of stuffing the ballot box when the only thing to be gained is another ballot box?

  8. We bow to the epic greatness that is Team Ricky! We were truly outmatched and outplayed. Way to represent, Tor!

  9. Go Team Ricky!! FTW

Next year it should be a bracket pitting one blogger from each team against the other. The loser has to host the winner on their blog in a special expose “How Awesome is ?”
