Baby, Birth, Delivery – Our Newborn Son Has Arrived!!!

After nearly 42 weeks of pregnancy, my wife had a scheduled Casearean section this morning at 9:30am. The surgery lasted less than two hours and it was completely complication-free and uneventful. Except for the fact that at 10:08am, the newest addition to our family - Salvatore (Tor) James Constantino, T.J. for short - entered our world. My wife is doing great and is with our newborn son as I write this. The early steer from the medical team is that she'll have a speedy recovery; however, … [Read more...]

Our Cardboard Cutout Baby Stand-in

My wife, who's 41-weeks pregnant today, has her last scheduled out-patient doctor's visit this afternoon. They'll check and see if there's any additional dilation and cervical thinning to (perhaps) indicate when the baby might be making his soon arrival. If the doctor tells us  there's no additional action and that the boy is hunkered in tighter than a WWI Doughboy in a embattled trench on the Western Front - we're prepared for a C-section later in the week. In the meantime we're … [Read more...]

Too Prepared for Our Baby???

If you've been following this blog for the past few months, you'd know that we're anxiously expecting our third child. In fact, our newborn still has not yet arrived - and he's nearly a week late. But while we've been waiting for him, we've been preparing for his arrival. We've got the baby carrier and stroller travel system ready...           We've got the bases for the baby carrier mounted in both of our … [Read more...]

5 Delivery Room Survival Rules For Dads

My blogging buddy and mentor Michelle Shaeffer told me about this great, free site called Piktochart that enables non-PhotoShop mortals like me to generate cool infographics. An infographic is a graphical representation of information in a highly-visible, easily digestible format. Given that we're about to have our third child, I thought I'd share five rules to help expectant dads survive and navigate the newborn experience. With that, here's the world premiere of my first infographic … [Read more...]

Our Due Date is Here…just not the baby

It seems that we've reached the end of our pregnancy as today marks the 40th week of Junior's shack up in my wife's uterus. So sound the vuvuzela and crack open the non-alcoholic champagne! The only teeny-tiny issue is that Junior has seemingly decided to take a page from the Occupy Wall Street movement and continues to Occupy the Womb. We've got our final scheduled exam with the obstetrician tomorrow - so hopefully we'll get some perspective and timing on Junior's secret exit … [Read more...]

Our Final Pregnancy Update???

It seems hard to believe but the newest edition to our family is scheduled to arrive next Tuesday. Our family is anxious and expectant of the new arrival. Recently, my wife and I will lay in bed talking about how our lives will change for the better and wondering what his little personality will be like. Because anybody with more than one kiddo knows that each is amazingly different from the others. We can't wait to meet him. He has definitely been the most active of our kids … [Read more...]

Pregnancy Update – Home Stretch!

This may be one of the final pregnancy updates I'll post until our baby boy arrives. My wife has crossed 38 weeks gestational age for the pregnancy - so he'll be a full term. Things have moved so fast since we discovered our family was expanding and we decided to share it publicly here. We’ve provided developmental milestones via the awesome web site BabyCenter.com. Here’s what's happening at week 38: Your baby has really plumped up. He weighs about 6.8 pounds and he's more than … [Read more...]

Two Reasons I Love Being a Dad

In case you can't guess the two reasons why I love being a dad - I'll give you a hint. One reason just turned 8-years old and the other is 10-years old. Whenever they ask which of them I love more (as kids sometimes do), I tell them that they're both so special and unique - that I love them differently. I give them the example that my favorite all-time dessert is Chocolate Trifle - if I could only eat one thing the rest of my life that would be it. Yet at every family dinner I have a … [Read more...]

Pregnancy Update – Week 37

Well we've successfully crossed the metaphoric "full-term" Rubicon for our baby boy. He's officially at 37 weeks gestational age, which means he can join us at anytime now. The time has passed so quickly since we discovered our pregnancy and decided to share it here. Throughout this journey we've shared developmental milestones that have been provided courtesy of BabyCenter.com. Here's one of the final posts they'll provide regarding what exactly is going on inside my wife's … [Read more...]
