Fighting the Good Fight – Against Myself

Boxing Glove Cake – Not the “Fight” I Need to Make

I recently shared about a sobering emergency room visit involving a cardiac issue I had.

As a result of that visit, I’ve made some lifestyle changes  regarding how I eat and how I exercise to ensure healthier outcomes going forward.

I’ve been on WeightWatchers for three weeks now and went to weigh-in this morning. As of today I’ve lost another -2.6 lbs for a total loss of -9.2 lbs.

So far so good.

Additionally, I’ve committed to exercising everyday.

To help me in that regard, I purchased a Nike+ Fuelband and app for my iPhone.

Here’s how Nike explains the product:

And after three days of using it – here’s the video I shot on Sunday featuring my daughter…

I’m continuing to wear it, and I’m surprised at how motivating the system is – much more so than a pedometer or other tricks I’ve tried in the past. So, I’ll keep doing it and WeightWatchers as long as I can.

My hope and ultimate goal is that they’ll both become permanent lifestyle changes t0 help me win the battle against myself.

Question: What have you done to keep yourself motivated to make a significant change?

There are just some tech toys that I can do without… (Oh, wait, until they really change policies, it’s Apple anything.)

I also would not want to that chip installed in my body to insure motivation.

Amazing how that emergency issue makes us do things we already knew we should do. Hmmm…. maybe I should stop and think about that a little more…
