This post marks another installment of my “7 Questions With an Author…” series, where I ask published authors an unchanging set of questions and share their responses here.
Today’s featured author is Lauren Anderson.
Before starting her own business in 1990, Lauren was a top executive with Estee Lauder for more than 23 years.
She is a frequent and recognizable guest on national television and writes numerous articles for top specialty and professional publications.
Currently, she is working on two books based on her wide-ranging experiences. Here are seven questions with author Lauren Anderson.
1. Tell us about your book?
MO! is a book about wonderful, everyday people that do what they do with passion, motivation, MO-HOW, moxie and MORE in extraordinary ways. They inspire others because they have MO. Reading this book will inspire and be a MO-mentous occasion in one’s life.
2. What led you to write it?
A conversation between my co-author Shawn Doyle and myself. Talking about how some people just have “IT” and we started discussing the individuals we knew that were inspiring to us and to many others and the idea of telling the world about some of these beautiful people was born. MO! is the word we use encapsulate and describe the unique dynamism of each of the 28 individuals featured in the book.
3. Who is a writer that inspires you and why?
I have so many writers that I love and they all inspire me in many different ways, which is why I buy their books.
4. What was the biggest challenge you faced writing this book?
Finding a publisher that could envision what we wanted to accomplish with the book. Also because there were 28 Chapter Stars – individuals whom we wrote about – and two authors, the coordination took some time.
5. What advice would you give to an aspiring writer?
Pick up the pen or go to your computer and start writing! Just do it and if it is meant to be it will flow. Discipline is a must but I bet you will find out, like I did, that you are better than you think.
6. Where do you get your ideas?
From the wonderful inspiring, exceptional people I work with, live with, friends, neighbors, children and grands. Everywhere I go I glean ideas for writing!
7. Anything that you’d like readers to know that I haven’t asked?
Writing this book had nothing to do with me. It took the book being out a week when I had a light bulb moment….this book had to be written to let the world meet these 28 individuals I wrote about.
The purpose is to learn from these featured individuals, mirror what they do to be successful regardless of what they do as a profession…be it selling fish, cleaning homes, shining shoes or selling chili dogs from a vending cart – these individuals are successful and their examples share how you can find success within you.
